Hugo Boss got its name from its founder and chief. An Italian Textile manufacturing group called Marzotto is now the major share holder in the company. Hugo Boss has four major offices, starting with the head office located in Germany; it has a logistics branch in Switzerland, the companies manufacturing plant located in Turkey and a subsidiary in the US.
The company has an extensive global market; however, more than 60% of the sales are brought in from only two countries, namely Germany which is closely followed by the United States. In a small town south of Stuttgart called Metzingen, a tailor named Hugo Boss decided to start shop shortly after the First World War. This is where it all began for the Multi-National. His initial work consisted of mainly protective suits tailored for people working in the heavy industries, and other formal outfits which people could wear to office everyday. In a rather recent revelation, an Austrian magazine revealed that the company manufactured uniforms for the Nazi army which was led by Adolf Hitler.
It’s been a long journey for Hugo Boss from then till today; today Hugo Boss can be found in over a 100 countries and selling like hot cakes with the help of over 500 retail outlets.
Almost twenty years after the death of the company chief Hugo Boss, appeared his grand children Uwe and Jochen Holy. Things would never remain the same for Hugo Boss. The young boys who were in their mid-twenties changed the direction of the firm completely, they had begun to re-define fashion and re-write the company’s fate all over again.
