When most people think of Ralph Lauren they think of Polos, but for those who know a little more about the brand you may already know that the label reeks of royalty, with clothing designs fit for the queen and her family.
Which of course is not such a large surprise given both Prince’s Harry and William have been spotted wearing clothing from Ralph Lauren. The simple truth is that when you see or wear Ralph Lauren the most immediate thought that comes to mind is regal and graceful, which is what you get when you shell out for one of the most premium designer labels in the UK.
This autumn, a large part of the Ralph Lauren collection seems to have been inspired by riding clothes, with much of the women’s collection dominated by tight leather pants, vests, and patchwork quilted sweaters that look as though they belong at the stable.
Knitwear is definitely one of the largest components of the Ralph Lauren collection with leather providing a nice contrast and more fitted look than the oversized outwear garments. Ruffled button down shirts that tuck in and hug the hips are also big this season.
For men, the Ralph Lauren collection holds either the premise of trendy and sophisticated or royal elegance. On the royal elegance side colour is a large component of what is being offered, with dark, subdued, tailored coats laying neatly on bright vibrant knit vests, and contrasting ties.
On the flip side of the coin, for a more a worldly look, tight leather jackets and thick belts are in, with tight fitted dark blue jeans further enhancing the look of urban sophistication. Also added to the collection are timepieces, which are the accessory of choice for the final touch.
